“Resourceable were professional from start to finish and a lot of survey and design work was carried out behind the scenes. The project was completed on time, on budget and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Running costs have dramatically decreased and Tradewood is delighted with the new LED lighting.”

The Client

When Tradewood approached us for advice on Emergency Lighting and a LED Lighting upgrade, we were delighted to help one of Ireland’s leading businesses. Tradewood & Co is a leader in the Timber Industry and has been importing and distributing Timber and Building materials for nearly 40 years.

Location

Their new offices and adjoining warehouses are in the Duncrue area, in the heart of Belfast’s Docklands. This central location, close to ports and motorways, enables Tradewood to serve the whole of Ireland and the UK. Specialising in Sheet materials, Resistant building boards, Doors, Floors and associated products, Tradewood & Co are certified to sell products under the FSC® (SGSCH-COC-003168) and PEFC (SGS-PEFC/COC-0137) Chain of Custody certification.

Resourceable Lighting

LED lighting Upgrades are our specialty. As a result, Tradewood contacted Resourceable to assist with improving light levels and emergency lighting. The existing lighting was old technology sodium. These are very inefficient, with a 400 watt light sometimes drawing as much as 500 watts. To optimise the layout, we produced multiple designs. As a result the final lighting design enabled existing light positions to be reused to reduce installation costs.

Choice of LED Light

Resourceable specified a high output, low glare LED light fitting from Eaton lighting. With a Honeywell sensor these lights are simple to program and have excellent dimming and control functions. Because of this the lights dim and turn off when the area is not occupied. They will also dim when there is adequate daylight, therefore saving on running costs.

Emergency Lighting

The dedicated escape routes were lit to comply with BS5266-1:2016 using the integral emergency lighting in the new LED luminaire. This is a great way to cover areas where product can block the light from wall mounted emergency lights. This is the sort of issue that can catch out inexperienced lighting companies. Although pallets of products are not a permanent fixture, they can’t be ignored when they are prevalent and can compromise safety.

LED Lighting Upgrade Results

Resourceable’s LED lighting upgrade provided the client with adjustable light output, automatic presence detection and emergency light cover to BS5266:2016 standards.

The working area has been transformed and is now safer and much better lit. Savings of 90% from utilising the sensor function are substantial. Furthermore the decrease in carbon output reflects Tradewood’s sustainability and environmental values.
