Introduction

Lighting design forms the basis of any large lighting project. None more so than the energy efficient LED lighting we delivered to Pritchitts. Resourceable has an excellent working relationship with all of our suppliers. Dextra is one such supplier that has supported us since we formed our company. Not only are they a key supplier, but we know many of the staff personally and have direct access to people all levels. This makes Dextra one of our first considerations for supplying quality lighting products.

The Client

Pritchitts are part of the Lakeland Dairies group. The group has grown into a global market leader in the manufacturing of dairy based products. Their food-service products are developed with the professional in mind. They deliver high-quality, yet functional products to busy kitchens and bakeries around the world.

Their expertise lies in technically advanced dairy products, which give the chef, caterer or baker the convenience of longer life products without compromising on quality. Lakeland supply customers in over 70 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

The Brief

When Pritchitts identified the need for further energy and carbon savings, Resourceable was their first choice to upgrade lighting at their factory in Newtownards, N. Ireland. We have carried out many similar projects and were the number one choice when it came to selecting a lighting company that could handle such a large and complex project.

Resourceable is an experienced specialist in turnkey LED lighting and emergency lighting projects, with the ability to tick every box for customers including: product quality, lighting design expertise, customer financial support, project management, professional installation and recycling service.

Due to the environment, we specified dust proof and water proof luminaires for the lower height areas. Additionally the customer wanted maximum energy savings. As a result, our choice of products included daylight and movement sensor functionality. As the list of product requirements grew, the selection of suitable products naturally diminished. Our lighting design showed that the Verteco LED and Impervia batten from Dextra were the ideal choices.

Lighting design

Resourceable worked extensively with the client on the lighting design. Phil Hunter of Pritchitts managed this particular project on the client side. Phil, one of Pritchitts most experienced engineers, laid down a stringent lighting specification in terms of performance, control and savings targets.

Specifically, every area had a specific lux level requirement which we fulfilled in the lighting design. Naturally, specific areas worked better with led battens, whilst others necessitated the high bay Verteco. Electrical specialists Scotts Electrical Services, installed and commissioned the led luminaires in accordance with our lighting design layout. The results delivered optimum lighting performance, quality and value for money for Pritchitts.

Sean O’Kane of Resourceable commented: ‘We have a 50 point checklist covering surveys, not to mention a long list of key deliverables. This attention to detail gives our customers peace of mind in the knowledge that we are taking care of any issues before they arise. Furthermore the customer can be confident in the knowledge that they are getting the optimum LED lighting solution for their working environment.’

“There are an abundance of lighting products available and choosing products, suppliers and installers is a dilemma for many clients”, explained Sean. “Customers continue to recommend us, project after project; potential clients can 100% rely on us to deliver quality LED lighting solutions!”

Lux Award Winners

We all knew that this was a great project in terms of energy saving, carbon reduction and running costs. The light level increase lifted every area in terms of functionality and safety. Of course the sensor system worked perfectly with Phil fine tuning each luminaire via the handheld remote controller. We replaced hundreds of inefficient lights with leds that cost 80% less to run. What we didn’t know was that the project was being noticed elsewhere. As a result we found ourselves at the Lux Awards in London, where Pritchitts and Resourceable picked up the main lighting award for industrial project of the year. This was in spite of strong competition from some major lighting companies in the U.K.

And Finally

The project continued with the final batches of inefficient lighting being upgraded to led. What’s more, we also provided emergency lighting expertise to the customer,as this is a key part of any lighting upgrade. As a BAFE registered and BSI approved company, Resourceable can be trusted to not only deliver professional energy efficient lighting but also emergency lighting safety. This is paramount for your insurance and legality.
